It’s the first day of Crushmas, and we’re here to help kick off a holly jolly month of top-notch content, as well as serve you the inside scoop of the hard working people who bring your favorite titles to life. With our first Woman Crush Wednesday of December, we want to lift up an exceedingly talented person who has enjoyed 30 years of professional success and counting, doing everything from acting to producing to directing to modeling. She’s clearly an absolute legend so be sure to give it up for her, your WCW, the magnificent Meagan Good!
WHO’S THAT GAL: Meagan Good
WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Good stars as Camille in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video original series Harlem, which premieres on the platform this Friday, December 3rd. The show is a comedy that revolves around a group of four friends (Good, Jerrie Johnson, Grace Byers, and Shoniqua Shandai) follow their dreams after graduating from college together and are now attempting to navigate careers, love, and life in general in their 30s. It isn’t easy trying to figure yourself out and get your act together while living in a city as big and bustling as New York, but it sure does help to at least have some true friends by your side through it all. Good and the rest of the cast bring these friendships to life, culminating in an entertaining and heartfelt new show that is a must-watch for this month. Do yourselves a favor and start streaming Harlem the moment it comes out, only on Prime.
WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Good’s professional onscreen career began in 1991 with a bit role as Young Girl in an episode of ABC crime-drama Gabriel’s Fire. Within the next several years, Good began to quickly accumulate even more work on screens big and small, appearing in shows like On Our Own, ABC Afterschool Special, Touched By An Angel, Nothing Sacred, and The Parent ‘Hood, and in feature films like 1995 buddy stoner comedy Friday, 1997 southern gothic drama Eve’s Bayou, and 1995 comedy-drama The Secret Life of Girls. In 1998, the actress earned her first main role in a sitcom, playing Nina Jones in Nickelodeon sitcom Cousin Skeeter through 2001, marking the beginning of more leading roles for Good and ushering in roles on shows like Raising Dad, My Wife and Kids, House, Cold Case, The Game, Californication, Harry’s Law, Deception, Law & Order: SVU, and Mr. Robinson, as well as in films like 2003 romantic-comedy Deliver Us From Eva, 2004 comedy The Cookout, 2006 action drama Waist Deep, 2007 dance drama Stomp the Yard, 2008 romantic-comedy The Love Guru, 2008 horror Saw V, 2012 romantic-comedy Think Like A Man, and 2013 satirical comedy Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.
In recent years, Good has elevated shows like Minority Report, Code Black, White Famous, Star, and Prodigal Son as a recurring or main cast member, all while killing it in big movies like 2017 crime-drama Deuces, 2018 romantic-drama A Boy. A Girl. A Dream., 2019 superhero blockbuster Shazam!, 2019 psychological thriller The Intruder, and 2020 monster movie Monster Hunter. Clearly, Good is a hard-working star who has years of impressive work and credits under her belt, which have helped to make her the amazing and timeless talent she is today. We can’t wait to see all that the actress creates (both in front of and behind the camera) in the years to come!
WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Luckily, you don’t have to wait too much longer to see more from Good. The actress has two confirmed projects that are both currently in post-production. The first is 2022 fantasy comedy film Day Shift, which revolves around a hard-working, blue-collar dad who wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted 8-year-old daughter and does so by working on the down-low as a vampire hunter. The second film is 2023 action-adventure comedy Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the sequel to DC’s 2019 superhero film Shazam!, which sees Good reprising her role from the first film as Super Hero Darla.
