Book-tok readers became obsessed with Taylor Jenkins Reid’s Daisy Jones & The Six when it was released in 2019, turning the beloved novel into a New York Times bestseller. The hype surrounding this story garnered such attention that Jenkins Reid was able to pivot from bookshelves to the small screen when Amazon’s Prime Video tapped her for a new series based on the novel.

The virality of Daisy Jones & The Six didn’t stop there: the series was a hit, the album based on the series dominated the Billboard charts, and there are rumors of a concert — or maybe even a tour?? — featuring the cast of the show.

Finished watching all 10 episodes of Daisy Jones & The Six? Have you played Aurora so often you can recite the lyrics by heart? Then you might need to take a break and watch something else. If that’s the case, here are seven shows to watch during your post-Daisy Jones depression that are reminiscent of this sensational show.

  1. ‘Entourage’

    Entourage
    IMDB

Daisy has The Six, and Vincent Chase has his entourage. In this long-running HBO hit, an A-list actor from Queens, New York rises to stardom and brings all of his best friends along for the ride – including his agent, Ari Gold. Gold must manage Vinny while also keeping his frat-boy friends in check, as the crew has an affinity for drugs and house parties. Trade singing for acting, and Studio 54 for Vinny’s backyard, and these two shows are very on par with each other. From being a fan to the inner circle: Entourage will give you intel on what it is like to be closest to your favorite stars, like Daisy!

  2. ‘The Get Down’

Taking place in the 1970s, this show follows a group of musically inclined teens in the Bronx. From rapping songs to dancing to them, it is very possible that Daisy and The Get Down kids crossed paths during their late-night clubbing escapades. But these boys differ from Daisy in that they had far from the cushy upbringing she did, (the main character, Ezekiel, lost both of his parents to gun violence), but it makes their wins even bigger. Between rapping, singing, and DJ-ing, this talented group has big dreams, and will not let their circumstances get in the way of achieving them.

  3. ‘Girls5Eva’

From the ’70s to Y2K, Girls5Eva was the Spice Girls of Peacock’s fictional world. Despite having a few hits, they were labeled a one hit wonder, every singer’s worst nightmare. After their 15 minutes, the crew moved on and established adult lives outside their flash-in-pan fame. But when a young artist samples one Girls5Eva’s songs, the group’s fate changes. The girls reunite to finish what they started. The music, band dynamic, and loveable characters make Girls5Eva a more modern version of Daisy Jones & The Six, albeit with way more comedy and less drama.

  4. ‘Empire’

This musical drama is a little different from the other recs, as it is more about the business side of the music industry. Lucious Lyon, a former drug dealer and hip-hop star, owns Empire Entertainment, a thriving record label. But he has to make a quick, educated decision on who to give his business to as he has a life-threatening illness. Watch as his sons and ex-wife (who just got out of jail) try to prove themselves for ownership of the Empire. After watching Daisy Jones & The Six, seeing the other side of the music world may interest you.

Imagine falling in love with your co-worker, but your co-worker is a country music star, and you’re also married. In the words of that Meryl Streep rom-com, “it’s complicated.” This story is based on the lives of George Jones and Tammy Wynette. Tammy got the opportunity to open for George, and the duo only got closer after each performance — similar to Daisy and Billy’s originally business-only relationship. The music is a character on George and Tammy, just like on Daisy Jones & The Six, so prepare for another sing-along romance with some serious drama.

  6. ‘Nashville’

Can they put aside their feud long enough to team up? Juliette may have an extra ulterior motive to start a friendship, as she has a crush on one of Rayna’s band members. Though this is more modern and country focused than Daisy Jones & The Six, It is the perfect next watch if you want to continue on the musical dramedy beat.

  7. ‘Star’

    Star
    Fox

Star Davis is a 20-year-old who was put in an abusive foster home after her mom died.
