The weather might be nice outside this weekend, but we have quite a few reasons to stay inside, thanks to the star-studded movie and TV premieres across all the major streamers. This week’s new releases include the long-awaited Disney+ live-action movie Peter Pan & Wendy, Paramount+’s fresh, modern spin on Fatal Attraction, and the tearful conclusion of Netflix’s Firefly Lane.
With so many great new shows and films to choose from, let us here at Decider help you figure out what to watch this weekend and where to stream it.
New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: Peter Pan & Wendy, Fatal Attraction, Firefly Lane + More
Disney+ is releasing it’s newest telling of the Peter Pan story, Peter Pan & Wendy, directed by The Green Knight director David Lowery, and starring Alexander Moloney and Ever Gabo Anderson in the title roles. On Paramount+, Lizzy Caplan, Joshua Jackson, and Amanda Peet star in Fatal Attraction, the new series that uses the 1987 Adrian Lyne thriller as its inspiration, but it takes the story of the deadly one-night stand to a whole new level. The first two episodes of that series drop Friday. And if you need a cathartic cry, head to Netflix to watch the series finale of Firefly Lane, the time-jumping series about lifelong best friends that stars Sarah Chalke, Katherine Heigl and a whole lotta wigs.
We’d be remiss if we didn’t also add an honorable mention onto this list, Love and Death which is new on HBO this week and stars Elizabeth Olsen as Candy Montgomery, the woman who killed her best friend with an axe. (If that story sounds familiar, that’s because Jessica Biel starred in Hulu’s Candy last year, another series that covered the same turf.) HBO will release three episodes of Love and Death this week, and the final three will premiere weekly on Thursdays in May.
New On Disney+ April 28: Peter Pan & Wendy
In the new Disney+ film Peter Pan & Wendy, Wendy Darling (Ever Anderson, daughter of Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Anderson), is transported to the magical (and thankfully somewhat updated) world of Neverland with her brothers Michael and John in a whimsical, exciting new take of the fantasy tale about not wanting to grow up. Jude Law stars as Captain Hook and Yara Shahidi assumes the role of Tinkerbell.
New On Paramount+ Sunday, April 30: Fatal Attraction
Fatal Attraction is one of the most iconic movies of the 1980s, and this week on Paramount+, a new series reimagines the story of the torrid, sexual affair between Dan Gallagher (Joshua Jackson) and Alex Forrest (Lizzy Caplan) as something of a crime thriller as we focus on what happened after Alex’s death. You won’t want to ignore this one, Dan.
New On Netflix Thursday, April 27: Firefly Lane (Season 2, Part 2)
Tully Hart (Katherine Heigl) and Kate Mularkey (Sarah Chalke) have has a long, tumultuous friendship, and this week, their story comes to an end. Despite the pair’s many ups and downs, everything changes when Kate becomes terminally ill. The entire second half of season two dropped on Netflix this Thursday, so you don’t have to wait to see how things wrap up for these best friends forever.
