Did somebody ask for aging action stars? Because we’ve got them in spades this week on VOD with the release of EXPEND4BLES and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, both of which are now available on streaming, they’re they’re all proof that age ain’t nothin’ but a number.
But if you’d rather not watch Tom Cruise or Sylvester Stallone serving up thrills, you might want to take in the documentary The Lost Weekend: A Love Story, which is the story of John Lennon and May Pang’s love affair which began in 1973. Lennon and Pang began a relationship – with encouragement from Yoko Ono – and lived together for 18 months, and in the film, everyone from Pang to Ono to Lennon’s son Julian reflect on the relationship and the impact it has personally and creatively on Lennon.
These are just a few of the titles that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One
Tom Cruise has played Ethan Hunt for decades now, and it is true to say that the Mission: Impossible films only seem to get better as time goes on. In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Hunt reunites with his go-to guys, Luther (Ving Rhames) and Benji (Simon Pegg) and even Ilsa (Rebecca Ferguson), along with newcomer Grace (Hayley Atwell) to thwart the global takeover of an unknown entity called… The Entity. The stakes are high, and the stunts are more bonkers than ever (The train sequence! Has a fryolator ever been used in such a way on screen before?), and the worst thing about the movie is that we have to wait until 2024 for part two.
EXPEND4BLES
If you thought it was impressive that Tom Cruise is still playing Ethan Hunt at age 61, Sylvester Stallone is still kicking butt in the Expendables franchise at 77. In the newest film, EXPEND4BLES, Stallone teams back up with Dolph Lundgren and Jason Statham and welcomes the arrival of 50 Cent and Megan Fox to the team as they travel the globe to thwart a nuclear threat that could lead to World War III.
