Adam Rodriguez may not have won Celebrity Jeopardy, but he’s still a good sport.
The Criminal Minds: Evolution star sat down with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on Live with Kelly and Mark this morning, where the self-professed Jeopardy! fan recalled his 2023 appearance on the game show’s celebrity counterpart.
When asked how his appearance went, he bashfully replied, “Not as well as I wanted it to.”
Rodriguez explained that he received the highly anticipated call to compete on the show while on a family road trip in Montana, just about “four days before [they] were supposed to come home.”
“So I had to cut the trip, like, two days short and drive 17 hours to get home in time to make the show,” he shared. “And so we just beat this hurricane that was coming to the west coast. And we’re like hours in front of the hurricane, like at the beginning of the rain.”
He noted that he shot the show the following day after getting home, and admitted that he “did not have the performance that [he] was hoping [for].” He, Ripa and Consuelos all agreed that “the buzzer” was to blame.
“If you’ve ever done it, the buzzer’s tricky,” Rodriguez added.
He noted that Mira Sorvino, who was ultimately bested by eventual champ Lisa Ann Walter in the semi-finals, “beat [him] handily.” Nonetheless, after Consuelos said that Sorvino is “someone good to get beat by,” Rodriguez still made light of his loss.
“But, I mean, she went to Harvard,” he teased. “I went to high school, she went to Harvard. I don’t feel so bad.”
