Tension has returned to The View in spades after Donald Trump‘s victory. On this morning’s episode of the hit daytime talk show, Alyssa Farah Griffin disagreed with Sunny Hostin about why Americans voted to put the former president back in the White House.
Griffin began by explaining that she has spoken to Trump voters, who felt as though “life was better” when he was in office. While Hostin described Trump’s party as “morally bankrupt,” Griffin argued that Democrats “missed the moment” because they were “looking at the micro and not the macro” when it came to Vice President Kamala Harris‘ campaign strategy.

“You have people talking about, ‘Oh, well, how did he win Michigan?’ And Democrats are saying, ‘She should’ve talked more about Gaza.’ No, union halls were empty,” Griffin said. “This is not about a micro-issue like Gaza. It’s people saying, ‘The costs of living are too high, wages are too low, my life was better under him.’”
According to Griffin, Americans “struggling to make ends meet” don’t care that Goldman Sachs and analysts at prestigious univerities said the economy would do better under Harris.
“That’s because they were bombarded with misinformation and disinformation,” Hostin muttered.
But Griffin ignored her as she pointed to one Texas community that widely voted in favor of Trump.
“Latinos in Texas, a district that’s 97% Latino went 75% for Donald Trump. Why?” Griffin said, to which Hostin replied, “Misogyny.”
That set Griffin off. The former White House staffer swiftly fired back, “No, it’s on the border! The border crisis is on their doorsteps. And they were begging people to care about it for years! We need to take some lessons.”
Still, Hostin attributed Harris’ loss to “misogyny and sexism,” prompting Griffin to reiterate, “The lessons were not misogyny and sexism.”
It was at that moment that Whoopi Goldberg intervened, playfully telling her co-hosts, “Knock, knock! Who’s there? Oh, it’s Whoopi!”
