Don’t sleep on the importance of beauty sleep!

On Tuesday’s Live with Kelly and Mark, Kelly Ripa noted that she was “still fully on Italian time,” and Mark Consuelos eventually regaled the audience with a story from the night before. After being up with their dog Chewie, Consuelos said he and Ripa were “both awake”when he got back into bed because it “felt like it was 9 o’clock in the morning.”

“I get on my phone and I start looking at the news, and Kelly goes, ‘Put down your phone. The light’s too bright.’ Like I was a little kid,” he teased.

Ripa explained that she was “trying to coax [her]self back to sleep,” but Consuelos “simply refuse[s] to put [his] phone on the dark setting.”

Consuelos inquired what the “dark setting” is, to which Ripa simply replied, “It’s the dark setting.” He asked for Ripa’s assistance later with implementing this setting on his phone, which she agreed to.

“When I wake up at 2 in the morning and I go on my news feed, he has no idea because it’s on the dark setting,” Ripa shared. “When he wakes up at 2 in the morning and goes on his phone, the entire room illuminates in that horrible lighting that makes you look twice your age. It is awful.”

Consuelos doubled down on his request, joking, “After the show, will you put me on the tan setting?”

Ripa clarified, “Dark setting.”

Live‘s EP Michael Gelman chimed in and suggested that Consuelos try to “smart invert,” which he said “makes anything that was white into black” on your screen and which Ripa said she already has.

“You’ll like it. And I will love it,” Ripa quipped. “Anyway, I was trying to put myself back to sleep. Spoiler alert: It didn’t work. So now I’m in a bad mood, and you’re all going to have to deal with it.”

However, Ripa’s frown quickly turned upside down after the audience issued her a round of applause.

“I love this audience. They’re like, ‘We can get behind you being in a bad mood,'” she joked. “‘We’re sick of this joy.'”
