Kelly Ripa is no “villain” for just wanting her beauty sleep — and a better playlist.

On this morning’s Live with Kelly and Mark, Mark Consuelos discussed AirBnb’s use of “anti-party technology” ahead of New Year’s Eve, reminding Ripa of their neighbor, who has since moved, that rented out their townhouse to students during “the height” of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“There were students staying on certain floors,” she recalled. “And then this one floor… they rented out to somebody who allegedly, I guess, was staying there, as a student or whatever. But they were throwing illegal raves, like discos.”

While Consuelos noted that he was in Vancouver at the time, Ripa lamented that she would be “awakened” to loud music and flashing lights on a work night.

“First I called 3-1-1. Then I called 9-1-1,” she explained. “9-1-1 was like, ‘Ma’am, a party’s not an emergency.’ And I was like, ‘What do I do to make them stop?'”

Not only did Ripa take issue with such gatherings were “not supposed to happen” during the pandemic, but also with the “irritating” music.

“It’s, like, not my playlist,” she added. “And then I called 3-1-1 again, and nothing. And then finally, in the middle of the night, in winter, I, in a bathrobe, like a maniac, go over there and bang on the door.”

Ripa, who said she was “hitting every buzzer” due to not knowing which floor the raves were taking place, eventually was buzzed up to the correct floor, where she was asked if she was their Uber.

“I’m like, ‘I’m not the Uber, I’m your neighbor.’ These two college kids come out and I go, ‘First of all, what you’re doing is illegal,'” she shared. “They’re like, ‘No, no, no, we live here.’ I go, ‘No, you don’t. I actually know who lives here, and it’s not you. I’m sure they don’t know you’re throwing a discoteque here. Turn the music off. It’s a Tuesday!'”

Consuelos teased, “You became that person,” to which Ripa fired back, “No, I’m not that person. They are that person.”

“I like that suddenly I’m the villain in the story,” she quipped.

Consuelos acknowledged that it was “bad music,” and Ripa confirmed that she did get them to shut the music off.

“It was 3 o’clock in the morning! On a Tuesday! What are you doing?” she added.
