Whoopi Goldberg will always be there for Joy Behar — even when the latter has a hard time mounting herself on a stripper pole.
On this morning’s episode of The View, Goldberg wondered if fans of the show get “annoyed” when the co-hosts are “dressed to cheerily” while talking about dark political issues. The question prompted a conversation about the wide range of topics The View touches on.
For example, the ladies got to take a bit of a break from election news to celebrate Behar’s birthday with a male stripper back in October. Sara Haines looked back on the hilarious episode, telling Goldberg — who was off from co-hosting duties that day — that the dancer “gyrated” and that they “were told [they] couldn’t do that anymore.”

However, Goldberg shared her own experience with Behar and a stripper pole.
“The only time I have ever seen Joy and a pole was when I was trying to push her — do you remember that? We were trying to get up on this stripper pole,” Goldberg said, referring to a 2002 episode of The View in which the co-hosts, including Barbara Walters, got a pole dancing lesson on the air.
At one point, Goldberg had to rush to Behar’s side so she could swing her leg around the pole.
“Her leg wouldn’t go up. My behind wouldn’t go up. And I just thought, ‘She’s sitting on my head right now!’” Goldberg recalled. “It was the wildest thing.”
Haines joked that pole dancing is “not a two-person sport,” although Goldberg insisted, “I had to help her.”
Meanwhile, Behar simply quipped, “I was also 30 pounds fatter, just saying.”
The longtime moderator concluded the segment by telling the audience, “It’s amazing that this show can do all those things and everything we do and y’all still appreciate what we do,” while Haines cheekily added, “Can we pole dance here?”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
