If you’re already fully dialed into the Amazon ecosystem, you probably already know about Prime Video Channels, but for those who don’t, here’s the gist: once you’re an Amazon Prime subscriber, you get access to Prime Video, and through there, you can subscribe to several other streaming services, so a bulk of your streaming content is aggregated into one service.

Since launching in 2015, Prime Video Channels has amassed a roster of nearly 100 streaming services you can subscribe to for a monthly price comparable to what you’d pay if you subscribed outside of Amazon, including its latest addition: Apple TV+.

What Are Prime Video Channels?

Prime Video Channels are streaming services that you can add to your existing Prime subscription for a fee every month. Essentially, instead of subscribing to Max through its website, you can subscribe to it through Amazon. Then HBO Max’s entire content library will be integrated into Prime Video and available for you to watch.

Your subscription will always be connected to your Amazon account and available whenever you log into Prime Video.

A big draw to Prime Video Channels for cord-cutters might be that some of the services available typically come at an extra cost to traditional cable subscribers, like Max, Starz, Paramount+ with Showtime, and Apple TV+. For the monthly price (which varies by subscription), you’ll also get access to any live channels that may come with the service.

Most channels come with a seven-day free trial and the option to cancel anytime.

How are Prime Video Channels Different From Prime Video?

We see how this might not be very clear. As an Amazon Prime member, you get access to a bunch of perks, like free two-day shipping, savings at Whole Foods, and prescription savings.

Another one of those perks is Prime Video, Amazon’s streaming service with original programming, like The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and The Boys, and an extensive catalog of popular movies and TV shows. Additionally, Prime and non-Prime members can buy or rent movies through Prime Video for a cost.

With Prime Video Channels, you subscribe to a third-party streaming service inside Amazon. It’s convenient because your payment info is all in one place, and you’ll only have to remember one username and password.

Yes, you do. Amazon Prime costs $14.99/month or $139/year.

Do I Have to Pay More for Prime Video Channels?

Yes, every Prime Video Channel, excluding Freevee, comes at an additional monthly cost. Most range from $3.99 to $6.99 per month each, but some premium cable networks’ subscriptions are slightly higher and include options for ad-free plans — Max, for example, can cost you up to $16.99/month.

Are There Free Prime Video Channels?

The major free Prime Video Channel is Freevee,an extension of Prime Video that is free for any user with a paid or unpaid Amazon account to watch.

Freevee features movies and shows, plus select free episodes of Amazon Originals normally only available to paid Prime Video subscribers.
