Jagadhri

Jagadhri is in Ambala Division in the northern Indian state of Haryana. This town is known for the cluster of brass and copper industries. Jagadhri is known as the "Brass City" of India.

Jagadhri is adjacent to the newer city of Yamunanagar. As such, they are twin cities and in modern times have merged into a single metropolitan area.

The city has shifted to becoming a centre of the timber trade in Haryana, being home to a number of paper mills.

The closest airport is in Chandigarh though the closest major airport is Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

Jagadhri is well connected both by train and road with Delhi and Chandigarh. There are two railway stations in the urban area, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri station and Jagadhri Workshop station, both of which are on the Moradabad–Ambala line.

• 1 Chaneti Buddhist Stupa (3 km (1.9 mi) east of Jagadhri). This ancient monument was built during the reign of King Ashoka of the Maurya Empire. It is round in shape, made of bricks, 8 meters in height, in the area of about 100 sq meters, is an old Buddhist Stupa. According to Hieun Tsang, this was built by the King Ashoka. • 1 Kalesar National Park (46 km from Yamunanagar city, 122 km from Chandigarh). Park is closed July to September; Oct-Jun: 6-10AM and 4-7PM during summers, and 7- 11 am and 3:30-6PM during winters. Kalesar National Park and adjacent Kalesar Wildlife Sanctuary are protected areas in Kalesar of Yamunanagar district. Jeep safaris are available on 3 motorable tracks during the designated park opening months.
