Stay safe

[edit]

Many land mines and unexploded ordnances are left over from the 1992-95 Bosnian Civil War. Although intensive efforts to clean up the explosives have been undertaken since the early 2000s, with help of the international community, there are still many mine fields present in the hills around Sarajevo and along the former front line between Bosnia and Republika Srpska. Always stay on the paths, look out for mine warning signs, and never wander into the forests!

Go next

[edit]
  • To the northwest, Zenica and Banja Luka are on the route to Zagreb in Croatia and so to western Europe.
  • To the north, Tuzla has budget flights.
  • To the south, Mostar has a picturesque centre. It's on the route to the Adriatic coast.
This region travel guide to Sarajevo Region is an outline and may need more content. It has a template, but there is not enough information present. If there are Cities and Other destinations listed, they may not all be at usable status or there may not be a valid regional structure and a "Get in" section describing all of the typical ways to get here. Please plunge forward and help it grow!
