On this fifth track to Aaliyah’s self-titled album, she touches on a relationship that is seemingly coming to and end. In the beginning, she believes she can have a future with this man, until he continues to grow more hostile and abusive (physically and mentally).

Although she sees his consistent change in behavior, but considering she’s been blinded by love, Aaliyah holds onto the speck of hope that there is still good in him. However, she realizes that the way he is treating her is “way out of line” and that she should’ve left him at all of the previous red flags.
