Whataya Want From Me Lyrics
Hey, slow it down
Whataya want from me?
Whataya want from me?
Yeah, I'm afraid
Whataya want from me?
Whataya want from me?
[Pre-Chorus]
There might've been a time when I would give myself away
Oh, once upon a time, I didn't give a damn
But now, here we are
So whataya want from me?
Whataya want from me?
[Chorus]
Just don't give up
I am workin' it out
Please don't give in
I won't let you down
It messed me up
Need a second to breathe
Just keep coming around
Hey, whataya want from me?
Whataya want from me?
Whataya want from me?
Yeah (Yeah), it's plain to see (It's plain to see)
That baby, you're beautiful
And there's nothing wrong with you (Nothing wrong with you)
It's me, I'm a freak (Yeah)
But thanks for loving me
'Cause you're doing it perfectly (Perfectly)
[Pre-Chorus]
Yeah, there might've been a time when I would let you slip away
I wouldn't even try, but I think you could save my life
[Chorus]
Just don't give up
I am workin' it out
Please don't give in
I won't let you down
It messed me up
Need a second to breathe
Just keep coming around
Hey, whataya want from me? (Whataya want from me?)
Whataya want from me?
Whataya want from me? (Whataya want from me?)
[Bridge]
Just don't give up on me (Oh, oh)
I won't let you down
No, I won't let you down
So
Just don't give up
I am workin' it out
Please don't give in
I won't let you down
It messed me up (It messed me up)
Need a second to breathe
Just keep coming around (Hey)
Whataya want from me?
Just don't give up
I am workin' it out
Please don't give in
I won't let you down
It messed me up
Need a second to breathe
Just keep coming around
Hey, whataya want from me? (Whataya want from me?)
Whataya want from me? (Whataya you want from me?)
Whataya want from me? (Whataya you want from me?)

Pink and Max Martin wrote the song together. And I believe that their initial intention was about a relationship and about being in a situation where you’re in a little bit over your head. You’re wondering, “What is it that you want from me?” But thank you for sticking around. And now it’s so appropriate, considering some of the recent controversy and ownership of different social groups and what I should be to other people. It is a great way for me to say, “What do you guys want from me?” I’m doing my best. The best lyric in the song is, “Yeah, I’m a freak but thanks for loving me.

“[The song] works on a relationship level, but I also relate to the sense of talking to the public. Like, ‘This whole thing’s a little freaked out, but please have faith in me, because I won’t disappoint you.

On the song’s success and it’s number ten peak in the US:
Having that happen was real validation. It felt like, okay, I proved my point."
