Loser Lyrics

[Intro]
Let's go

[Verse 1]
I've always been a fan of the night life
'Cause it's the only life I had

Expressing my mind with paper and a pen
Playing my guitar 'till my fingers bled on the carpet

[Pre-Chorus]
Maybe I wasn't like all the normal kids
I was born just a little bit different
I tried to fit in, I got sick of it
I tried to fit in, I got sick of it

[Chorus]
You say I'm just a loser in the background
I can never seem to get it right
But I'm learning my worth is more than your word
You told me I would back out, I would break down
I'm not even putting up a fight
But I'm learning my worth is more than your word

[Verse 2]
It wasn't easy being rejected by the thing I wanted so bad
To be accepted, to be wanted
To wake up and say this is gonna be a good day

[Pre-Chorus]
Maybe I wasn't like all the normal kids
I was born just a little bit different
I tried to fit in, I got sick of it
I tried to fit in, I got sick of it

[Chorus]
You say I'm just a loser in the background
I can never seem to get it right
But I'm learning my worth is more than your word
You told me I would back out, I would break down
I'm not even putting up a fight
But I'm learning my worth is more than your word
More than your word

[Bridge]
I was born a little bit different
I was born a little bit different
I was born just a little bit different
I was born a little bit different
I was born a little bit different

[Chorus]
You say I'm just a loser in the background
I can never seem to get it right
But I'm learning my worth is more than your word
You say I'm just a loser in the background
I can never seem to get it right
But I'm learning my worth is more than your word
You told me I would back out, I would break down
I'm not even putting up a fight
But I'm learning my worth is more than your word

[Outro]
I got sick of it
I got sick of it
I tried to fit in, I got sick of it
I tried to fit in, I got sick of it

Genius Annotation

As Caleb Shomo stated (2016) in an interview with LoudWire,

[Talking about “Loser”]

“[…] And, I mean, yeah that song kind of started with the music. It just started with that riff in the beginning and you know I didn’t think it was gonna be as deep of a song. I thought it was gonna be a little more along the lines of ‘Rock Is Dead’ where it’s just a more fun track. After the music got put together and I started putting lyrics together, I think I wrote the chorus first and then everything just spun out of control from there. I started diving into my childhood and a whole bunch of things and diving into my love for music and it all kind of stemmed from there.”

Loser is simply put an energy-filled song with a powerful meaning and impact that started as a “fun track” and not a critic to people that are toxic and try to bring you down to make themselves feel superior.
