“Clearest Blue” is a single from CHVRCHES‘ second studio album, Every Open Eye.
Iain told Genius this song reflects their musical philosophy for the second album:
On this album, compared to our approach on The Bones of What You Believe, we wanted to strip down the multilayered approach and focus on having only a few elements in the arrangement at any given time. We felt that this gave the songs more character and
made them sound more focussed and less dense. This approach created a lot more space for the vocals and the big instrumental hooks when they arrive.
It premiered at the 2015 Pitchfork Music Festival. A lyric video was uploaded to the band’s VEVO channel on September 10th.
It is also the favourite track of the album for band member Martin Doherty, revealed during their Answer Time with Tumblr.
The track was remixed by American DJ Gryffin for the extended edition of the album.
