Glory of the Snow Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I can feel there's something in the between
For a moment, I heard you talking to me
When I drive, I always check over the seat
I could see you right there, waiting on me

[Pre-Chorus]
I pull on the string that binds me
To memories of the way I loved you
I push on the door, the one I've ignored
The, the one that leads me to you

[Chorus]
Glory of the snow
I'm waking up and now I know
Mm, mm, mm
Mm, mm, mm
Mm, mm, mm
Mm, mm, mm

[Verse 2]
I can see there's someone looking for me
For a moment, I heard the rustling lеaves
When I cry, I wanna give you a ring
I can brеathe with you right there, hold onto me
[Pre-Chorus]
I dust the windows, the shutters, the channels
Where you'd sit, paper and pen
Sweeping under rugs, the one I was not gonna
Gonna dance on again

[Chorus]
Glory of the snow
I'm waking up and now I know
Mm, mm, mm
Mm, mm, mm
Mm, mm, mm
Mm, mm, mm

Genius Annotation

“Glory of the Snow” is the 10th, and penultimate, track on Charm.

The title of the track is a reference to Lucile’s glory-of-the-snow%20–%20west%20Turkey), a delicate flowering plant known for being some of the earliest flowers to bloom after dormancy in the grey of winter, even when there’s still snow on the ground– hence the name.

Much like how the blooms of the Scilla luciliae welcomes the end of winter and welcomes the beginning of a more colorful season, Claire recalls and reminisces about a darker time in her life where she may have been accustomed to a person’s existence in her life. Claire suggests that just like the flower, she too is ready to come to certain realizations, bloom, and move past that fleeting moment.

Despite being one of the earliest flowers to bloom, Lucile’s glory-of-the-snow flowers only exist in the transition between winter and summer. The foliage dies and prepares for dormancy in summer and autumn. This penultimate track closes out Charm’s overall theme of temporary, fleeting moments of being seen:

‘Charm’ is a feeling you have. When you’re charmed, it’s that perfect blend of being goofy-eyed over a person – platonically, romantically – and not knowing how long it will last

The foliage will soon die, and with it, Claire’s memories of this moment in her life will too.
