The song is about the issues of cloning and/or genetical engineering, told from the perspective of someone (possibly an android) who was created through this process.

It was also suggested that ‘Replica’ dealt with the issues of rape, abortion and being born out of hatred. This interpretation is even more plausible as the band told in an interview that this song’s music video “was banned from MTV because of the pro-choice lyrics”.
