“Stalemate” is the eleventh song in the English Demo and 18th song overall (Including reprises.)

The song takes place after Light and L’s first meeting. L, is, by this point, sure that Light is Kira, however, he doesn’t have definitive proof of this, whereas Light is carefully plotting out how to act, having doubts and asking questions, both seemingly at a stalemate. Meanwhile, Misa sings a song with subtext about her devotion to Kira and has finally decided that this moment is when she will meet Kira.
