Most Girls Lyrics
(Staying out late 'cause they just celebrating)
(Staying out late 'cause they just celebrating)
[Verse 1]
Some girls feel best in their tiny dresses
Some girls, nothing but sweatpants, looking like a princess
Some girls kiss new lips every single night
They're staying out late 'cause they just celebrating life
[Pre-Chorus]
You know some days you feel so good in your own skin
But it's okay if you wanna change the body that you came in
'Cause you look greatest when you feel like a damn queen
We're all just playing a game in a way, trying to win at life
[Chorus]
Most girls are smart and strong and beautiful
Most girls work hard, go far, we are unstoppable
Most girls, our fight to make every day
No two are the same
I wanna be like, I wanna be like most girls
I wanna be like, I wanna be like most girls
I wanna be like, I wanna be like
[Post-Chorus]
(Staying out late 'cause they just celebrating)
I wanna be like, I wanna be like
(Staying out late 'cause they just celebrating)
I wanna be like, I wanna be like
Some girls like to keep their physique real private
Some girls wear jeans so tight 'cause it feels so right, yeah
Some girls, every day searching, keep the page turning
Sleeping in late 'cause they just celebrating life (Oh yeah)
[Pre-Chorus]
You know some days you feel so good in your own skin
But it's okay if you wanna change the body that you came in (Ah)
'Cause you look greatest when you feel like a damn queen
We're all just playing a game in a way, tryna win at life
[Chorus]
Most girls are smart and strong and beautiful
Most girls work hard, go far, we are unstoppable (Yeah, yeah)
Most girls, our fight to make every day
No two are the same
I wanna be like, I wanna be like most girls
I wanna be like, I wanna be like most girls
I wanna be like, I wanna be like
[Post-Chorus]
(Staying out late 'cause they just celebrating)
I wanna be like, I wanna be like
(Staying out late 'cause they just celebrating)
I wanna be like, I wanna be like
Most girls (Yeah)
Most girls (Wanna be, wanna be, wanna be)
Most girls, our fight to make every day
No two are the same
I wanna be like
[Outro]
Most girls
I wanna be like, I wanna be like most girls
I wanna be like, I wanna be like
(Staying out late 'cause they just celebrating)
I wanna be like, I wanna be like
(Staying out late 'cause they just celebrating)
I wanna be like
(Staying out late 'cause they just celebrating life)
About
At its core, “Most Girls” is a female empowerment anthem. In it, Hailee celebrates all kinds of girls, regardless of what they choose to wear, who they choose to love, and what they wanna do with their lives. Accompanied with cheery pop beats, Hailee emphasizes this message with a chorus that celebrating girls as strong and powerful in their own right.
“Most Girls” follows Hailee’s first EP Haiz, and a collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly on his current single “At My Best.” It is speculated (but not confirmed) that “Most Girls” is the lead single for Steinfeld’s debut LP.

[Sang:] It’s power, yes? And you're—my takeaway, just from the teaser, [is] that you’re telling women that you are capable of so much more, you are so much more than society says around you. And you can aspire to whatever you wanna be.
[Steinfeld:] Exactly, and to add to that, it really is about not only the thought of knowing that about yourself with the way you are, but the song basically says it’s okay to want to change certain things about yourself. If you feel better with make-up on, put make-up on, take the extra time out of your day and wear it, it’s really all about “Yeah, you’re awesome the way you are.” And for me, as a young woman looking around and looking at other women and being inspired by them and finding them incredibly strong and unstoppable and smart and wanting to be like that, I think is just a real progressive way of thinking [about] this song.

As much as it’s […] some girls are this, some girls are that, it’s most girls, most girls you know, most girls that are in this world—and it is really [that] all women have something to offer and have a story and have a goal in life or someone they find inspirational or something. And… hear the song and it’ll make sense, I promise.

I actually met Ryan [Tedder] backstage at Jimmy Fallon in New York, the day the Golden Globe nomination’s been announced […]. We met and it was a quick sort of introduction and I had this song and one component that it really, really needed was a Ryan Tedder production and I went to him and he fell in love with the song and he killed it. And I love him and we’re working on other things now and he’s awesome.
