Ugly Lyrics
(Mistah) Sitting in the corner sipping on his gin
(Mistah) Must be my good karma, it brought me next to him
(Mistah) He said he like the color when he look in my eye
(Mistah) His lips are like nirvana, his kisses paradise
He like to role play and talk dirty, keep me up 'til four thirty
Play Marco Polo, feeling 'round with his eyes closed
Call me "Cleopatra", make me watch in the mirror
Don't wanna say "Told you so"
[Chorus]
But ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
As long as you love me, this could get ugly
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Yeah, baby, trust me, this could get ugly but that means
It's fucking good, real fucking good
It's fucking good, loving me like you should
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Yeah, baby, trust me, this could get ugly
[Verse 2]
(Mistah) Honeymoon is over, roses on the floor
(Mistah) Screaming out accusing, calling me a whore
(Mistah) Your words are shaking me, giving me whiplash
(Mistah) We're on a trampoline and soon we're gonna crash
But ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
As long as you love me, this could get ugly
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Yeah, baby, trust me, this could get ugly but that means
It's fucking good, real fucking good
It's fucking good, loving me like you should
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Yeah, baby, trust me, this could get ugly
[Chorus]
But ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
As long as you love me, this could get ugly
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Yeah, baby, trust me, this could get ugly but that means
It's fucking good, real fucking good
It's fucking good, loving me like you should
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Yeah, baby, trust me, this could get ugly

“Ugly” was a part of me that is the grungier side, a part of me that wanted to show people that I’m not just this sweet little innocent girl. It stemmed from a lot of my past relationships, just in terms of all the issues that I had with people and falling for somebody who didn’t necessarily either appreciate you or treat you the same that you treated them.
I didn’t technically write this record. This record was sent to me and so when I heard it, I really resonated with the fact that it reminded me of my past and past relationships that got pretty ugly.
Whenever I get songs sent to me versus myself writing them–it’s not very often that it happens– a lot of the times it’s a no-go for me because it has to really resonate with something I’ve either been through, or I want to go through, or I can relate to in some way, shape, or form.
But when it’s sent to me, I’ll listen to it alone probably like three or four times. Then I will kind of depict lyrics. I’ll depict sound, beat. And everything incorporates. Really, it depends on how I’m feeling about the track. It depends on the lyrics, it depends on everything. It’s really just sitting down and dissecting every piece of the song and seeing if it’s for me.
You started out in a friends with benefits relationship and you agreed to not fall for each other. And then one person ends up falling and the other one’s like, “Well, I don’t know what the hell to tell you but…” And then it gets ugly.
