I was a bad girl, I did some bad things
I swear I did it all for fun and it meant nothing
It never happened, it was a secret
Like when a tree falls in the forest, no one hears it
Another late night, another crazy mood
And I didn't think twice what it would do to you
I was a wild child, you always knew it
It was a matter of time before I blew it
[Pre-Chorus]
Thou shall not lie, thou shall not cheat
Thou shall not get caught or you'll end up just like me, oh
[Chorus]
Karma's a bitch, I should've known better
If I had a wish, I would've never effed around
When I saw the pics of you and her, I fеlt the knife twist
Karma's a bitch, and she's with you right now
[Verse 2]
Shе is a good girl, I think she's boring (Boring)
Believe me, twenty minutes later, you'll be snoring
But it still kills me that you hooked up with her (Up with her)
And now the universe is giving me what I deserve (I deserve)
Thou shall not lie, thou shall not cheat (Oh, woah)
I'll write it down a thousand times and hope it sets me free, oh
[Chorus]
Karma's a bitch, I should've known better
If I had a wish, I would've never effed around
When I saw the pics of you and her, I felt the knife twist (Karma)
Karma's a bitch (Oh, woah), and she's with you right now
[Post-Chorus]
Woah, oh, oh, oh-oh (Karma's a bitch)
Woah, oh, oh, oh-oh (Karma's a bitch)
Better be good, 'cause what goes around, comes around
Karma's a bitch, and she's with you right now
[Bridge]
And when I lay me down to sleep, it's not your body next to me
This lonely room feels so empty, just me and my regrets
And cold blue eyes look back at me, the mirror has no sympathy
My guilts become a symphony that won't let me forget, oh
[Chorus]
Karma's a bitch, I should've known better
If I had a wish, I would've never effed around (Oh, woah)
When I saw the pics of you and her, I felt the knife twist (Karma)
Karma's a bitch (Karma), and she's with you right now
Karma's a bitch
Karma's a bitch
Better be good, 'cause what goes around, comes around
Karma's a bitch (Karma), and she's with you right now
About
“Karma” is the lead single off of JoJo Siwa’s debut studio album and her first step into “adult music”. Ditching her Bubblegum Pop persona which she became known for, Siwa opts for darker and more mature themes in “Karma”, saying herself that this is a “new era of life, we’re becoming an adult.”
The song is a slightly modified cover of the then unreleased 2012 single “Karma’s a Bitch”, recorded by Brit Smith. Smith’s version was ultimately released digitally for the first time on April 14, 2024. The song was also originally recorded by Miley Cyrus but was given to Brit Smith in 2012.

This song is special, “KARMA” is special. This was 2 years ago, so I was, I was 18 still. I was very afraid of the lyrics of “KARMA”. I wasn’t ready to say “I was a bad girl”. I wasn’t ready to say “I should’ve known better / If I had a wish I would’ve never effed around”, “Another late night, another crazy mood / And I didn’t think twice what it would do to you”. I didn’t feel comfortable saying that yet, I didn’t feel comfortable singing that yet. But I– I told her “This song is special, I want it. It’s never, never going to be my first song”. And I remember saying that, I was like “It’s never going to be my first song because it’s too much. But yes, like I want it, and it’ll eventually see the light of day with me”. And this when I was planning on my music coming out in 2 months. Little did I know it was gonna be 2 years.
I’ve grown up for eleven years now infront of the world and I have always been about making art. That’s what I love to do. I’ve always been genuinely myself and I’ve always created stuff that felt true to me. As I got older I really wanted to create stuff that was gonna make the world say, “What the fuck?” And the fun thing is with “KARMA”, I wanted this first breakout adult moment to do that. I wanted this first adult breakout moment to make people’s heads turn. Somehow the song already did that [before releasing].
