Enough Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Hitting me up while you're sitting by yourself
Taking me up so I still endure
When the high dies I fall apart
And you're sorry, I see it in your eyes

[Chorus]
But it's not enough
It's not enough right now
Hold her hand
You've had enough
I've had enough right now
Hold her hand
Will your love ruin my heart?

[Verse 2]
Can't you see, love, that I'm standing by myself?
Boy, you and I, we miss each other now
I'm so tired but I can't ignore

[Chorus]
But it's not enough
It's not enough right now
You've had enough
I've had enough right now
Hold her hand
[Bridge]
Boy, you always manage to change my mind
Boy, you always manage to change my mind
Hoping that it wasn't just a waste of time
Hoping that it wasn't just a waste of time
Said it once before, you'll leave her behind
Said you'll leave her behind
Probably telling her the same damn thing
At the same damn time

[Chorus]
But it's not enough
It's not enough right now
You've had enough
I've had enough right now
Hold her hand
Will your love ruin my heart?
Will your love ruin my heart?
Will your love ruin my heart?

About

Genius Annotation

“Enough” is the fourth track from Kelela’s new album, Take Me Apart. The song is about an individual knowing the relationship has come to an end and is crushed having to once again part ways with their ex-lover.

In an iHeartRadio interview, Kelela tearfully describes “Enough” as a partnering song to the intro track “Frontline” . The confident, brazen energy in “Frontline” is world’s apart from the vulnerable sadness displayed here. Both songs are crucial in coming to terms with the loss of a relationship.

It’s a sadder leaving. With that particular song…it conjures up a lot of feelings. I can remember exactly how vulnerable I was feeling… in a way that we don’t get to with “Frontline”. Everybody should be able to explore both of those types of departures"
