Villain Lyrics
Oh god, what have I done?
It's easier just to run away from me
My friend, I have sinned
I watched you buckle under the space
I put you in
[Pre-Chorus 1]
Will you remember me for who I am?
Or will you forget me for what I've done?
[Chorus]
I am a human
I am the villain
I am the monster
But you let me right in
My mind is polluted
My thoughts convoluted
I don't feel the pain
But I feel what I gave to you
[Verse 2]
If you walk away, I'll walk away too
I won't ask you what I've gotta say
To make you stay
I won't hold your hand anymore
But you still stand in frame
I just don't look the same
[Chorus]
I am a human
I am the villain
I am the monster
But you let me right in
My mind is polluted
My thoughts convoluted
I don't feel the pain
But I feel what I gave to you
(I gave to you)
(I gave to you)
Forget me (me)
(Forget)
Can you forget forget me out of here (x5)
[Chorus]
I am a human
I am the villain
I am the monster
But you let me right in
My mind is polluted
My thoughts convoluted
I don't feel the pain
But I feel what I gave to you
Forget me, forget me, forget me
Just stay here
About
“Villain” is the second single of Social Repose’s EP “Empress”. The lyrics give an insight on how an individual has come to terms with their mistakes towards someone they cared dearly for. They eventually move on from them and has come to realize that they were the ‘Villain’ all along.
The official music video was released in September 13, 2017, but was re-uploaded 3 days later as it lost its monitization due to it being deemed as “not ad-friendly”.
The music video has similar elements from Social Repose’s last music video, “Filthy Pride,” which leads to logical assumptions that “Villain” and “Filthy Pride” are connected in the same timeline.
There is a continuing debate whether this video is before or after the events of “Filthy Pride”, but there is evidence that it is before “Filthy Pride”. In the “Villain” music video, Richie dunks himself in a bathtub full of black pool of liquid in the final scene, which looks similar to the intro of the “Filthy Pride” music video.
