Stormy Monday Lyrics
They call it Stormy Monday
But Tuesday's just as bad
They call it Stormy Monday
But Tuesday's just as bad
Lord, and Wednesday's worse
And Thursday's also sad
The eagle flies on Friday
Saturday I go out to play
The eagle flies on Friday
Saturday I go out to play
Sunday I go to church
Gonna kneel down and pray
Lord have mercy
Lord have mercy on me
Lord have mercy
Lord have mercy on me
Though I'm tryin' and tryin' to find my baby
Won't somebody please send her home to me
But Tuesday's just as bad
They call it Stormy Monday
But Tuesday's just as bad
Lord, and Wednesday's worse
And Thursday's also sad
The eagle flies on Friday
Saturday I go out to play
The eagle flies on Friday
Saturday I go out to play
Sunday I go to church
Gonna kneel down and pray
Lord have mercy
Lord have mercy on me
Lord have mercy
Lord have mercy on me
Though I'm tryin' and tryin' to find my baby
Won't somebody please send her home to me

Genius Annotation
This track, a cover of the Bobby Bland version of T-Bone Walker’s piece, is now considered the premier version of the song. When Bland covered the song, he took Walker’s simple 12-bar blues progression and introduced chord substitutions for most of the last 8 measures. The Allman Brothers' version was very similar to Bland’s, except for changes to one or two of the chord substitutions.
The song had been part of the Allman Brothers' repertoire for years before the Fillmore East concerts, and was a standard part of their concerts.
