Forgive Me Lyrics
Red eyes, just keep my heart beating
Your secret's safe with me
Just drive, I've broken our mirror
So our past won't look so tempting
[Chorus]
I never thought it'd feel this good to quit
Failure tastes so sweet
I'm not afraid anymore, forgive me
[Verse 2]
I'll swing here, I'll hang from this rope
Just at least until they've found me
Stay close, dear, the note on the floor says
"I wish that you were here"
[Chorus]
I never thought it'd feel this good to quit
Failure tastes so sweet
I'm not afraid anymore, forgive me
[Bridge]
So long to the future, I never had a chance anyway
So when I use my uses, I get a problem with my brain
This is a problem so intense, I cannot explain
Over and over, which way to turn?
There's no way out, at this point, I'm not concerned
I never thought it'd feel this good to quit
Failure tastes so sweet
I'm not afraid anymore, forgive me
I never thought it'd feel this good to quit
Failure tastes so sweet
I'm not afraid anymore, forgive me
About
Released on their debut album “Versus the World” (a self titled album), “Forgive Me” goes into the mind of an individual deep into a suicidal episode, likely after a painful breakup.
The song is most recognized for it’s appearance in the video game “Smackdown Vs Raw 2007” released in November of 2006.
Coincidentally, this would be the last video game appearance of Chris Benoit, who in June 2007 killed his wife Nancy and his 7 year old son Daniel, before committing suicide. Many fans felt the song eerily mirrored what was going through the mind of the then beloved wrestler and even coincided with events in Benoit’s life leading up the incident. There were rumors that Nancy and Chris were having Marital problems, Benoit committed suicide by hanging, and the line “the note on the floor says I wish that you were here” to some felt like it fit with his grief following the death of fellow wrestler and close friend Eddie Guerrero in 2006, where Benoit was noticeably emotional shaken on the Monday Night RAW dedicated to the life of Guerrero, more so than arguably anyone else on the show that night, visibly in tears.
