Words I Didn’t Say Lyrics
I get so caught up in me
That I don't realise what I'm missin'
All of my priorities
Never put you in my plans
[Pre-Chorus: Corbyn Besson & Jack Avery]
Every time we got closer, I pushed you away
Pulled you right back just to give you the pain
If I was your sinner, then you were my saint
Guilty of breaking your heart
[Chorus: All & Zach Herron & Corbyn Besson & (Jack Avery) & (Daniel Seavey)]
I lie here awake, thinking of all the games I played
I let you wait, hundreds of promises that I
(I never made,) I fell forever in a daze
('Til you walked away,) 'cause of the words I didn't say
[Verse 2: Jonah Marais]
There is no me without you
And you don't realise what you're missin'
This time I'm on something different
Let me show you why, for real
[Pre-Chorus: Daniel Seavey & Jack Avery]
Every time we get close, I won't push you away
Pull you right back just to give you the pain
I won't be a sinner, but you'll be my saint
Guilty of giving my all
I lie here awake, thinking of all the games I played
I let you wait, hundreds of promises that I
(I never made,) I fell forever in a daze
('Til you walked away,) 'cause of the words I didn't...
[Pre-Chorus: Daniel Seavey & Corbyn Besson & Zach Herron]
Every time we get close, I won't push you away
Pull you right back just to give you the pain
If I was your sinner, then you are my saint
Guilty of breaking your heart
[Chorus: All & Zach Herron & Corbyn Besson & (Jack Avery) & (Daniel Seavey)]
I-I lie here awake, thinking of all the games I played
I let you wait, hundreds of promises that I
(I never made,) I fell forever in a daze
('Til you walked away,) 'cause of the words I didn't
[Outro: Daniel Seavey & All]
See, I can't live without you, I hope you'll forgive it
A world without you is a world without living
I can't live without you, I hope you'll forgive it
A world without you is a world without living
I can't live without you, I hope you'll forgive it
A world without you is a world without living
I can't live without you, I hope you'll forgive it
A world without you...
About
“Words I Didn’t Say” by boyband Why Don’t We is the fourth track off of the band’s fourth EP titled Invitation.
The song narrates a heartbreak in two perspectives. The first verse, pre-chorus and chorus following are about a guy betraying his girl, and then regretting the subsequent breakup. The second verse is about the guy begging for attention back from the girl, as he wants to prove to her that he’s worthy of her love.
The intensity builds up the song to its breaking point, when member Daniel Seavey changes the key of the song in the middle of a note. The second key—expressing the sincerity of the words in the third iteration of the chorus—gives the song a smoother rhythm.

Running into a fan at the airport, member Corbyn Besson managed to slip a few words in about the song before its release, saying:
It might make you cry. Yeah, it’s like a ballad.
He continued on, to say:
It’s good, you guys’ll like it. It’s like, a Boys II Men; I don’t know if you’ve ever heard the song “End of the Road” by Boyz II Men. Look it up. It’s like, that kind of vibe.
