The cover art of THE ALBUM features a crown and BLACKPINK’s logo just below it. Like BLACKPINK’s other cover arts, this one is in the signature B&P (Black and pink) style.
BLACKPINK once again uses black, representing fierceness and savage, and pink, representing elegance and feminity, to showcase the two sides that make up the group, and the crown, a girly piece of jewelry yet simultaneously representing power, perfectly embodies that.
Much like the cover art, the album contains both concepts. The opening and lead single “How You Like That” and the first non-single off the album, “Pretty Savage”, are such examples of the “Black” concept. The second single, “Ice Cream” (with Selena Gomez) and “Bet You Wanna (ft. Cardi B)” are examples of the “Pink” concept.
The cover art was initially revealed on the 28th of July in a teaser poster on BLACKPINK’s social media and the album was released 2nd of October, 2020.
