cypress grove serves as glaive’s debut EP, released under Interscope Records. Throughout the project, the teenage hyperpop-prodigy sings about his relationships, fantasies, mental health, and more throughout the seven tracks on his breakthrough debut.
The EP’s rollout had begun whilst glaive was an independent artist. Releasing his breakthrough single, “astrid,” on June 29, 2020, glaive’s name had reached a new audience, setting him up for success with his future releases.
Following the release of “astrid,” “pissed” would be released on July 20, marking the second single off the EP. Between the two tracklisted releases, now deleted singles “im alright” and “sticks” would be released, as well as “mixed signals,” which glaive featured on. “pissed” would receive a music video directed by Overcast on October 21, three months proceeding the single’s release.
The third single, “touché,” would release on October 28, 2020, accompanied by a music video directed by Overcast. Within the three months prior to the release of “touché,” “clover” and “arsenic” would release as throwaway singles, alongside a handful of features.
Following his signing with Interscope Records, the rest of the project would be produced primarily by Jeff Hazin. “eyesore” would release as a promotional single a week before the release of the full project. “dnd” would receive a music video on December 3, two weeks after its release, concluding the cypress grove era as he began to preview tracks for his sophomore EP, all dogs go to heaven.
