Lecrae Devaughn Moore (b. October 9, 1979) is a Christian rapper, born in Houston, Texas. He is the president and co-founder of Reach Records.
Two years after converting to Christianity, Lecrae released his debut album, Real Talk, in 2004. He followed up with After the Music Stops in 2006 and Rebel in 2008. Rebel went on to become the first Christian hip-hop album to reach #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart.
His fourth album, Rehab, arrived in 2010. His fifth album, Gravity, was released in 2012 and went on to earn him his first Grammy, for “Best Gospel Album” at the 55th Grammy Awards.
He first received mainstream attention with the release of his 2012 mixtape Church Clothes, which was downloaded 100,000 times in just 48 hours. He followed that up with Church Clothes 2 in 2013 and Church Clothes 3 in early 2016.
His seventh studio album Anomaly went gold in 2016, 2 years after its release, making it the first Christian hip-hop album in history to do so. The last track on Anomaly, “Messengers” with for KING & COUNTRY, earned him his second Grammy at the 57th Grammy Awards, for “Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.”
In 2017, he released All Things Work Together, which debuted at #11 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on Billboard Christian Albums, led by the platinum single “I’ll Find You” with Tori Kelly.
In 2018, he released Let The Trap Say Amen in collaboration with super-producer Zaytoven. In 2020, Restoration became his eighth studio album, which he followed up with a deluxe edition.
2021 saw the release of yet another album, No Church in a While, in collaboration with labelmate 1K Phew.
Lecrae released Church Clothes 4—the last in the Church Clothes series—in November 2022. A deluxe edition titled Church Clothes 4: Dry Clean Only was released in February 2023.
Lecrae is one of the most influential and successful rappers of the Christian faith. He has been featured to perform and talk on several television shows such as The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America, Wild N Out and ESPN. He has won many awards, including several Dove, Stellar, and BET Awards, and—most notably—2 Grammys. He released his autobiography, Unashamed, in May 2016, which became a New York Times best-seller.
Lecrae is married with 3 children and is a graduate from the University of North Texas. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, where his label is based.
