Kia India has started accepting bookings for its new Syros compact SUV today, January 3, 2025. Customers can book online or at dealerships with a Rs 25,000 deposit. The South Korean carmaker has announced that the Syros will be launched on February 1, with deliveries starting mid-February. The Kia Syros showcases a fresh design, drawing inspiration from the Carnival, EV3, and EV9. The compact SUV’s exterior includes vertically stacked LED headlamps at the bumper’s edges, featuring three LED projector units and a distinctive drop-down LED daytime running light. Its front fascia has a sealed upper section, resembling an EV, and the lower portion integrates air intakes with silver-accented black trim.

On the sides, the Syros combines blacked-out A-, C-, and D-pillars with body-colored B-pillars, presenting a clean window line. Additional features include flush-fitting door handles, wheel arch cladding, 17-inch 3-petal alloy wheels, and a unique rear window kink. At the rear, the tall design resembles a minivan with high-mounted L-shaped tail lamps and a two-tone rear bumper.

    Kia Syros: Dimensions and space

The Syros measures 3,995mm in length, 1,800mm in width, 1,665mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,550mm. Compared to the Sonet, it is wider, taller, and offers a longer wheelbase. Boot space has also increased to 465 litres, an improvement over the Sonet’s 385 litres.

    Kia Syros: Expected Price

The Kia Syros is likely to be priced between Rs 9.70 lakh and Rs 16.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as a budget-friendly option, it will rival compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara, while also competing with subcompact models like the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Brezza.

    Kia Syros: Interior and features

Inside, the Syros features a redesigned dashboard with dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, forming a 30-inch unit. It includes a two-spoke steering wheel, a wireless charging pad, and ambient lighting. The dashboard integrates physical HVAC switches, AC vents, and horizontal design lines.

The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine generates 115hp and 250Nm torque, coupled with a 6-speed manual or torque converter automatic. These engines are shared with Hyundai and Kia’s other models like the Venue, Creta, and Sonet.
