MELODRAMA AT SOAP OPERA WEEKLY AS ITS EDITOR’S AXED

Mimi Torchin has bowed out at Soap Opera Weekly.

But not without a shove.

The glamorous ex-actress was pink-slipped on Wednesday by corporate parent Primedia after 15 years as editor, sources told The Post.

Soap Opera Digest Editor-in-Chief Lynn Leahey was appointed editor-in-chief of Soap Opera Weekly as well, for the interim.

A source close to the magazine said Primedia had become disturbed by Torchin’s delusions of grandeur. She recently ran a story on homes of the stars and included her own country house. She also included her own fading snaps in a “Baby Photos of the Stars” feature.

Leahey’s personal publicist, Vivienne Stern, said, “Mimi’s a terrific lady, I’m sure she’ll be fine.”

“I don’t feel bad for Mimi, because she’s a genius,” said Torchin’s publicist, David Granoff.

Warren Binblick, a spokesperson for Primedia – which also owns New York and Seventeen magazines – said the company wanted to “provide a fresh, brighter, more upbeat outlook” on the soap opera scene.
