WEIRD BUT TRUE

It was by no means the best guitar band in the world – but it was the biggest.

A total of 519 guitarists got together in Portland, Ore., to strum “This Land is Your Land,” setting a world record as the largest guitar group ever assembled.

Cars along a busy thoroughfare in Washington, D.C., came to a screeching halt recently – thanks to a mallard and her four ducklings who wanted to cross the street.

“There are ducks walking in traffic!” screamed pedestrian Pat Getter, who ran in front of oncoming cars to stop them from crushing the cute quackers.

“It’s a whopper. It’s the king of the deep-fat fryer,” said Simon Holland, who purchased it at Culver’s Restaurant in Wisconsin Rapids.

But Tamas Houlihan, who represents the state’s potato growers, isn’t impressed.

“To be honest, I don’t think seven inches is all that long,” he said. “Yes, it’s big, but it may not be a record-breaker.”

Detroit cops are searching for a feminine-looking 27-year-old man who poses as 13-year-old girl.

He’s facing criminal charges for befriending a 14-year-old boy and having sexual contact with him, police say.
