The town of Phoenixville, Pa., celebrated its little part in movie history over the weekend – as the place where “The Blob” was filmed.
The fourth annual BlobFest featured scores of screaming horror buffs bursting from the Colonial Theatre in a re-enactment of the famous escape scene from the 1958 cult classic that starred Steve McQueen. A piece of the original blob was also on display.
“Every year, this event has taken on a life of its own,” said resident Mary Foote.

A Chicago bus driver is in hot water for making an unscheduled stop – to pick up a hooker.
The Transit Authority had to shell out $1,200 to get the bus back after the driver pulled over in Cicero – allegedly to connect with a woman he thought was a prostitute.
She was actually an undercover cop. The driver was arrested and other officers impounded the bus.

A Florida man who barged into a neighbor’s house and chased her with a dagger says a cup of jasmine tea he drank was to blame.
Gilbert Walker, 43, of Callaway, claimed the brew made him temporarily insane.
A judge dismissed assault charges after shrinks said Walker suffered from some kind of psychosis.

A 65-year-old woman escaped serious injury when she was thrown from a bus which rolled down an embankment and came to rest on top of her, British police said yesterday.
The bus was in a collision with a car in Cheshire, central England, and then veered across the road into a crash barrier and hit a tree before tumbling 30 feet down a steep grassy bank.
The bus, carrying 20 passengers, came to rest on its wheels against an electricity pylon, trapping the unidentified woman underneath, police said.
The woman, who was pulled clear by firefighters, suffered only a head wound and broken ankle.

A 13-year-old boy helped prevent a cat-astrophe when he saved the life of a ginger kitty by giving it mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Sam Bernard of Nova Scotia breathed new life into the feline after a group of cruel kids hanged it by the neck from a tree.
“I blew into its mouth and pushed on its stomach and it started meowing,” he said.
