Mr. Smith going to Hearst digital media

Forbes.com President Mike Smith has jumped to Hearst to lead the revenue platform and operations for the magazine group’s digital media division.

Last year, the privately held Hearst magazines had full-year digital ad revenue of just $58.86 million, with cash flow flat with the previous year when it acquired Hachette Filipacchi Media, according to a source.

Hearst declined to reveal exact revenue, but insisted the division’s ad revenues were up 15 percent last year.

Earlier this year, Hearst Magazines President David Carey hired former Say Media CEO Troy Young to be president of Hearst Magazines Digital Media.

Hearst Magazines also boosted two insiders: Mike Dushane, formerly at Carandriver.com, is the new VP, product development for digital media, and James Welsh, of Hearst’s Digital Spy in Britain, will oversee global technology architecture. Keith J. Kelly
