Shia LaBeouf has launched a four-year-long protest against Donald Trump — creating a continuous public live-stream in Queens to broadcast people shouting “He will not divide us!” over and over again.
The exhibit, set up outside the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, was led by Jaden Smith Friday as the new POTUS was being sworn in.
Video posted on the project’s website showed the 18-year-old actor leading a crowd of young people, chanting and singing “He will not divide us!” for at least five hours straight. One person could be seen holding a sign that said, “ABORT TRUMP.”
LaBeouf, along with his performance art partners Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner, started the protest at 9 a.m. and invited the public to join throughout the day. They’re supposedly planning on keeping the live demonstration going for the entire duration of Trump’s term.
“Open to all, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the participatory performance will be live-streamed continuously for four years, or the duration of the presidency,” the project website reads. “In this way, the mantra “HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US” acts as a show of resistance or insistence, opposition or optimism, guided by the spirit of each individual participant and the community.”
