Augusta security is supposed to protect Tiger Woods, not knock him out of the Masters.
Moments after Woods hit an incredible recovery shot from the woods on the 14th hole at Augusta, an overzealous security guard rushed to help control the crowd, only to slip and clip Woods’ heel. The collision caused the oft-injured Woods to hop off in pain.
Luckily for the guard — and Woods — there was no lasting damage. In fact, Woods ended up making birdie on the hole as he continued his late charge up the leaderboard.
After the round, Woods downplayed the incident.
“It’s all good,’’ he said. “Accidents happen. I’ve had galleries run over me. When you play in front a lot of people, things happen. Accidents happen and you move on.’’
The four-time winner of the green jacket finished at 6-under, one shot back of leaders Francesco Molinari, Jason Day, Brooks Koepka and Adam Scott.
