Deadly Australian wildfires expected to worsen as temperature soars

Wildfires raging across Australia will likely worsen as hotter weather and stronger winds are expected, Reuters reported.

Forecasts are calling for temperatures to reach 104 degrees Sunday in the western part of the country with the heatwave spreading east and making conditions worse in New South Wales and Queensland.

An early outbreak of fires this year has already destroyed more than 300 homes and claimed four lives in New South Wales on the East Coast.

“Even if we bring in an extra 1,000 firefighters, we still don’t have enough trucks and firefighters for every single home in New South Wales,” New South Wales Rural Fire Service Inspector Ben Shepherd told Sky News.
