Cops, firefighter rescue woman who jumped into frigid Hudson River: video

A pair of New York cops and a firefighter braved the icy cold Hudson River to rescue a woman who jumped into the wintry water, video shows.

Police in Tarrytown responded to a report at about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday of a woman who went into the Hudson near RiverWalk Park, where she was found struggling roughly 20 feet from the water’s edge, police said.

Officers, paramedics and firefighters who responded to the scene in Westchester County attempted to use a water rescue disk to try and save the woman, but were hampered by extremely difficult terrain, video shows.

So two Tarrytown police sergeants — Chris Caoili and Joseph Barosa – and firefighter Scott Weaver jumped into the water themselves and pulled her safety.

The quick-thinking trio used a ladder at one point during the daring rescue, video shows.

“You gotta grab onto the ladder, dear!” one rescuer is heard telling the woman. “Grab onto the ladder.”

The woman, who was not identified by police, was taken to Westchester Medical Center for treatment. Caoili and Barosa were also taken to a hospital to be evaluated, police said.
