One dead, three found unconscious in bizarre Queens crime scene

A Queens father accused his son of being possessed by the devil and wound up paying for it with his life Thursday — as the man allegedly buried a knife in his chest during a fight in their bathroom, police sources The Post.

The victim’s wife, another of sons, and their daughter-in-law were also poisoned at the Queens Village home during a religious ceremony, but are expected to survive, the sources said.

Police had been summoned to the Hempstead Avenue apartment after a 911 call around 6:30 a.m., and found the suspect, identified by sources as Jamie Walker, 30, “acting very incoherently” in the hallway, NYPD Assistant Chief Joseph Kenny told reporters.

Walker allegedly admitted to police that he’d just hurt someone inside.

Entering the apartment, police found family patriarch Loandous Walker, 72, dead of multiple stab wounds in the bathroom.

The three family members were found unconscious on a mattress in the living room.

All three — the killer’s mom, Valda Walker, 72, the couple’s other son, Orel Walker, 31, and Orel’s wife, Caryn Rose Walkerm, 29 — were near death, sources said.

Bottles containing an unknown substance were found next to the knocked-out relatives, who had no visible trauma.

The three were taken to an area hospital in critical condition. Two have regained consciousness, sources said.

Police recovered scissors and a knife at the scene, sources said.

The doomed father apparently accused his younger son of being possessed by the devil — and was going after him before he was fatally stabbed, sources added.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident. He is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation at NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens. Charges are pending.

Kenny said toxicology tests will be done to determine whether any of the victims ingested anything.

There is no prior history of domestic violence at or 911 calls to the apartment, he added.

It’s unclear what religion the family practiced. But Ian Ramsey, a friend of the slain father, said the kin was known for performing religious chants at the home.

“One tenant heard noises,” Ramsey told The Post. “They know they do their chanting so they didn’t take it into consideration.”

He said he got a phone call early Thursday morning about the tragic turn of events.

“Right now, I’m confused. I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “What could prompt something like that?”

Francis Lumell, who’s lived in the building for three decades, said the family has resided there for just as long.

“They’ve been here at least 30 years,” she said. “You always see him cleaning the building. He was a family man. I would see his sons and him go grocery shopping and doing laundry together. They did everything together.”

“On Saturdays, the family went to church,” she added. “I would see his wife leaving the building with a bible in her hand.”

The building’s landlord, Vernese McCurdy, said the fatal victim was a “very nice man.”

“We never had problems with him,” McCurdy said.

Tenants were rattled by the violence.

“I am very surprised. They’re a good, church-going family,” said one, who declined to give a name. “I don’t know what happened but whatever happened is inside the apartment.”
