Fox Sports commentator Colin Cowherd is recovering after being hospitalized with a small blood clot in his right lung, he said Tuesday.
The 57-year-old host of “The Herd” was not on the air Monday following the Super Bowl, one of the biggest days for sports radio, or Tuesday.
Nick Wright filled in for Cowherd both days. It is unclear when Cowherd will return.
Cowherd said he experienced a “sharp” pain while out to dinner Saturday night with his wife before being taken to the hospital.
“It was the most pain I’ve ever been in,” the longtime sports TV personality said in a social media video posted from his home in Los Angeles. “It was limiting my breathing. It was scary.”
Cowherd said he returned two negative tests for COVID-19. He is undergoing other tests to find the cause of the blood clot.
Cowherd, who reportedly makes $6 million per year, said he still managed to watch Super Bowl 2021 and take notes.
