Pizza delivery worker critically injured in Manhattan crash
A pizza deliveryman is clinging to life after a motorist slammed into him on the Lower East Side, cops said.
Dylan Panalo, 21, was driving a Honda Accord west on Delancey Street, at a high rate of speed, when he collided with the unidentified worker, riding a bike south on Columbia Street just after 6 p.m. Monday, according to cops and police sources.
The impact sent the bicycle up onto the windshield of the sedan, and then back down to the ground.
The deliveryman, who cops say is in his 30s or 40s, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, with a severe head injury.
Police did not know whether the victim was on the way to make a delivery when he was struck, or where he works.
Panalo, who lives about half a mile away, ran off after the crash — but came back to the scene about 30 minutes later, complaining of wrist pain.
He was arrested and charged with assault, reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended license, cops said.
