Columbia, other Ivy League schools evacuate buildings over bomb threats

Columbia University evacuated two campus buildings Sunday after officials at the school reported receiving a bomb threat — one of four Ivy League schools targeted over the weekend.

Officials at Cornell University and Brown University said portions of their campuses there were evacuated Sunday after bomb threats — two days after Yale University was also forced to temporarily shut down parts of its campus after an earlier threat.

In the latest incident, WCAU-TV reporter Tyler Dumont said on Twitter that Brown University was clearing out some campus buildings “following a bomb threat.”

Just a few hours earlier, Cornell did the same.

“Cornell ALERT,” the school said on Twitter. “Law enforcement is on-site and investigating a campus bomb threat. Security perimeter is in place. Continue to avoid central campus.”

In an earlier tweet, school officials said several buildings were evacuated.

“Alert for the Ithaca campus: Avoid central campus,” the school said on Twitter. “Evacuate areas in or nearby the Law School, Goldwin Smith, Upson Hall and Kennedy Hall.”

“Additional information will be provided as it becomes available,” the tweet said.

Authorities have not linked the threats against the Ivy League schools.

A spokesperson for Yale University said the school received a bomb threat on Friday.

On Sunday, Columbia spokeswoman Caroline Adelman said they also received a threat at the Manhattan university.

“We’ve only been notified by a text,” Adelman told The Post. “It mentions two buildings that are being evacuated and warns people to stay away.”

They are the Carmen and Lerner buildings, she said.
