Deshaun Watson was all smiles at Monday’s Cleveland Browns practice.
The 26-year-old quarterback received a six-game suspension from Judge Sue L. Robinson for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy — he was accused by more than 20 women massage therapists of inappropriate behavior, including sexual assault.
Watson’s camp will not appeal the suspension, though the NFL still maintains the option.
Watson was traded to Cleveland this offseason after having sat out the 2021 season with the Texans due to the allegations from massage therapists as well as growing unease with the Houston front office.
On Monday, he arrived at training camp to applause from fans and a warm reception from teammates. He spent time signing autographs at the end of the day, as well.
“He didn’t [seem any different to me],” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said of Watson’s practice demeanor. “I didn’t notice any difference today.”
He also didn’t seem to notice the welcome Watson has received at CrossCountry Mortgage Campus in Berea, OH this week, though he’s simply happy to have fans on hand.
“I didn’t really notice,” Stefanski said. “Our fans have been outstanding supporters throughout this whole camp. I’m not surprised at the numbers that are out here, I’m not surprised by how enthusiastic they are.”
