Tom Brady talks ‘Masked Singer’ rumors, Kobe Bryant and Week 1 win on his SiriusXM podcast

Tom Brady says he’s basically good at one thing — “throwing passes.”

The 45-year-old quarterback returned with the second episode of his Sirius XM radio show “Let’s Go!” with Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray to talk about his rumored appearance on The Masked Singer, Kobe Bryant, and his beatdown win on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1.

“I don’t know where they get all these things; They gotta talk about something,” Brady said. “I wasn’t masked and I’m not a singer. So that wouldn’t really fit my profile. I’m basically good at one thing, which is throwing passes. Other than that, I’m basically worthless.”

The rumor circulated after Jenny McCarthy, a judge on The Masked Singer, was asked on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” if Brady was actually on the show.

McCarthy never really gave a yes or no, but entertained the question by answering, “it’s probably a really good idea” to tune into the show.

The superstar QB also talked about Kobe Bryant’s love for basketball.

“Kobe wrote a beautiful letter, ‘Dear Basketball,’ and he won an Academy Award for it,” Gray said. “How would you put into words – and this is off-the-cuff, you haven’t had time to prepare – your love for football?”

Brady had nothing but praise for the 5-time NBA champion, saying that he “loved everything about the letter.”

“He had such a deep love and kind of a romance with it,” Brady said. “And I think all the people who, you know, I tell this to my kids a lot, let’s pick something you love in life.”

“The thing that I was actually good at was something that I loved to do, which is throw the football around with my friends. And I made a career out of it.”

“You think about the inspiring things that make you want to get out of bed every day and go do something you love to do. And I have those people in my life and it’s a great feeling, knowing that you’re going out there with so many people behind you.”

Brady embodied this “love” he described for the game with a storied return to the NFL for his 23rd season. His Buccaneers cruised to a 19-3 win on the road over the Dallas Cowboys to give his team the season opener victory.

“I thought there was a lot of things we did well that we were making concerted efforts to do,” Brady said.

“A lot of guys got involved in the game, our run game was really good, a lot of different guys touched the ball.”

The GOAT’s storied return to the NFL against Dallas couldn’t have been written more precise, as he completed 18-of-27 passes for 212 yards and one touchdown.

Brady and his team will take on the New Orleans Saints Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
