Sister of missing Madeline Kingsbury remains hopeful ahead of police update: ‘We’re going to find you’
New information in the investigation of missing Minnesota woman Madeline Kingsbury was expected to be released by police Tuesday, as her sister expressed hope she will be found safely.
Kingsbury’s sister said Monday that she was still determined to find the mom of two, who disappeared after dropping off her children, ages 5 and 2, at daycare with their father in Winona, Minn., on March 31.
“We love her — and Maddi, we’re going to find you,” her sister Megan said on ABC’s “Good Morning America” a day before Winona cops were set to issue an update in the case, according to KAAL-TV.
Police said the clinical research coordinator at the Mayo Clinic did not attend work the day of her disappearance, instead going home and sending a final “goofy” text to her sister Megan.
The unnamed father of her children said he left their house at 10 a.m. and returned to find it empty. Kingsbury’s phone, wallet and jacket remained in the house and police said her disappearance was suspicious.
A minivan owned by the family was spotted on a local road at 10:30 a.m. and later at 1:30 p.m., cops said. They did not announce who was driving.
A massive search last weekend involving thousands of concerned volunteers was called off by police.
Megan said she grew concerned when she could not get hold of Madeline to discuss their tentative plans on April 1.
“I tried to call, nobody picked up, and that’s kind of when alarm bells were going off,” the emotional sister told “GMA.”
“It’s swirling around in your head, like, why haven’t I heard anything from her?”
The two sisters enjoy a close relationship, which was deepened when Madeline became a mother and grew “insurmountably,” Megan said.
“She always kind of went to the beat of her own drum,” she explained.
“She’s my best friend. She was really funny as a little kid. She liked to pick out her own clothes and they never matched. And she loved wearing dark red lipstick that was always on her teeth,” Megan recalled.
“We love to bake, we love Harry Potter, and she loves Lord of the Rings. And we try to take trips together, just the two of us for quality time.”
Kingsbury’s family has offered $50,000 to anyone who can lead them to the missing woman.
