Puff, puff, pass those sneakers.
8000Kicks, a Portuguese American company that specializes in producing hemp-based goods, has released a limited-edition shoe created with real cannabis.
CEO Bernardo Carreira and his grandmother, Otilia Santarém, who also serves as a co-founder of the company, developed the green shoe as a stunt in honor of 420, using the psychoactive herb — instead of standard hemp fibers — to create the shoe.
The cannabinoid-infused shoes, dubbed WEEDO, are made entirely of sustainable materials and handcrafted with up to 500 grams of smokable grass, taking up to 30 hours to manufacture.
Like the start of one epic smoke session, the company has to grind up the bud into small bits, to be stitched into the shoe.
However, as they are made with organic ingredients, the shoe won’t stay verdant forever — developing a brown patina as the hemp dries over time.
Mary-Jane lovers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the stonerish shoes.
“I got a pair of these every time I emptied my grinder,” quipped one smoker. “So when you low on supply, u roll it up?” questioned another.
The company is only selling 100 shoes exclusively on the 8000Kicks and Royal Queen Seeds website on a first-come, first-served basis, with each shoe priced between $1,096.03 and $1,644.05.
WEEDO’s launch date has not been announced, but customers ready to blaze it up can pre-register on the company site to purchase the shoe before they’re officially released.
