A co-conspirator of radio host and convicted fraudster Craig Carton has been moving millions in and out of trusts for his kids in a bid to avoid paying debts related to his $100 million ticket-selling schemes, according to a lawsuit.
Joseph Meli, 48, pleaded guilty in 2017 to tricking investors, including TGT LLC, into giving him millions —convincing them he had an exclusive deal to buy tickets to “Hamilton” in bulk and could resell them for profit.
In reality, he used the cash to buy jewelry, pay private-school tuition, and repay other investors.
Meli was later sentenced to more than six years in prison.
Carton — a popular WFAN radio host — was also swept up in the scheme and did prison time.
Meli owes $9.8 million to TGT, which the company won after suing him in Manhattan Supreme Court for fraud.
But instead of paying up, Meli and his father Richard have allegedly “unlawfully funneled” cash into two different trusts set up for Joseph’s kids, the company claims in court papers.
TGT is suing Joseph Meli; Richard Meli; Joseph’s wife, Jessica; their kids and his father-in-law, in a bid to recoup the funds.
