Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s marriage is ‘toxic’: Samantha Markle
Samantha Markle branded her estranged half-sister Meghan Markle’s relationship with Prince Harry as “toxic” in a new interview.
The 58-year-old, who recently lost a defamation lawsuit against the Duchess of Sussex, claimed that the exiled royals are “unhealthy for each other” in a trailer for an upcoming 7NEWS Australia Spotlight special.
The interview will offer insight from Samantha, her brother Thomas Markle Jr., and their dad Thomas Markle Sr on Sunday, less than one week before King Charles III’s May 6 coronation.
“They are really unhealthy for each other,” she says in the minute-long preview clip. “It’s a toxic relationship.”
Samantha also claimed that the “Suits” alum would “still be a waitress” if it wasn’t for Thomas Sr.
The interview will also feature videos and photos of Meghan, now 41, during her childhood.
Thomas Markle Jr., at one point in the trailer, declares, “We’re not going to go away. This is going to change everything.”
Meanwhile, Thomas Markle Sr. made a “death-bed plea to the daughter he lost.”
“How can I fix this?” the 78-year-old asked while clutching childhood photos of Meghan.
The retired Hollywood lighting director suffered a stroke last year and fears he hasn’t got much time left to make amends with his estranged daughter.
The pair were once close, but their relationship soured shortly before Meghan’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, prompting the dad-and-daughter duo to lose contact for five years and counting.
Meghan remains estranged from the father’s side of her family following her fall-out with her dad, while her relationship with mom Doria Ragland continues to thrive.
Hopes of a reconciliation faded after Thomas Sr. was busted secretly collaborating with paparazzi to stage photos that showed him being measured for a suit just weeks before he was set to walk his daughter down the aisle at her 2018 wedding.
He later underwent heart surgery saying the stress of the situation had caused cardiac issues.
Things came to an all time low after Meghan later accused her dad of leaking a private letter she had written to him after the wedding.
Despite receiving an invitation from her father-in-law, Meghan decided to stay back home in California with her son Archie and daughter Lilibet.
Coincidentally, May 6 is also Archie’s fourth birthday.
Harry announced that he will be attending the coronation alone, marking the first time he sees his family since the release of his protocol-shattering memoir, “Spare.”
