Amanda Nunes would entertain WWE move after UFC career ends: ‘Why not?’

Amanda Nunes, one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, would join WWE one day — if they bring a good enough offer.

Nunes, 35, is the current UFC women’s featherweight and bantamweight champion, and she once astoundingly went over seven years in the promotion between losses.

Nunes spoke to The Post on behalf of her endorsement partners at Celsius energy drinks.

Asked if she would ever follow in the footsteps of her former UFC opponents Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey into WWE, Nunes said, “It depends on the contract, you know?”

So she’s saying there’s a chance …

“If the contract is amazing, why not?” she asked. “What I wanted to do in MMA, I did already — even more than I thought in my head when I went through my whole career. I became a double champion. I wanted only one — I had two … I’m so happy, and whatever comes after I’m done with UFC, we’ll see. For sure you guys will see me around, anyways.”

UFC’s parent company, Endeavor, is in the midst of acquiring a majority stake in WWE, and there are any number of great stories they’d be able to tell once Nunes’ time in the Octagon is complete.

For now, though, the dual champion is very much still in UFC mode.

Nunes is fighting Irene Aldana this Saturday at UFC 289 in Vancouver and one presumes she will also eventually have a rubber match with Peña.

Peña handed Nunes her first defeat in over seven years at UFC 269 in 2021, and Nunes won the rematch at UFC 277 last year.

One dream fight that MMA fans have coveted for years is Nunes competing against PFL fighter Kayla Harrison, who is 15-1 as a professional.

Asked under the caveat that of course she’s not looking past her Aldana fight if she would ever like to face Harrison, Nunes answered, “Honestly, I don’t know — it’s up to her. UFC is open to everybody.”

Nunes pointed out that Harrison lost her last fight, to Larissa Pacheco; there has been uncertainty about if and when Harrison could avenge the defeat.

“I don’t know what is going on. My focus right now is on Aldana. After that, it’s whatever UFC wants to do. I’m a fighter,” Nunes said. “This is my life.”

Nunes and her wife, Nina, welcomed a baby girl, Raegan, in 2020, and she has loved motherhood.

“It’s amazing,” the UFC champ said. “The best thing that ever happened in my life. I always say, sometimes in your life you are amateur, and then when you have a kid you become an adult. It was a transition that I went through. It’s just amazing. She was with me in the gym the whole time I prepared for my fights. She’s just a good kid. Nina and me are really blessed to have her exactly how she is. She’s pretty easygoing.”

They have a second baby girl, due in November, and already have a name for her — Hazel.

Raegan is pumped to be a big sister.

“She is excited. She just asked when she would be able to see Hazel,” Nunes said, and began imitating her two-year-old: “Maybe Saturday?”

Nunes said that she has been grateful for her longstanding partnership with Celsius.

“They really take care of me, even back during the pandemic, you saw a lot of sponsors close doors to fighters, but Celsius still supported me and was always a part of the family,” Nunes said.

“Everybody that I give the drinks to that hasn’t had it before becomes a fan.”
